GPU Reservations

Training Coordinators can secure guaranteed GPU resources for their courses through the GPU reservation feature. By doing so, these courses receive top priority access to requested GPU compute hardware, thereby ensuring that the necessary infrastructure is available to run training sessions and labs effectively.

 

To create a GPU reservation for a specific course, follow the procedure outlined below:

Navigate to the Desktops tab on the course page and click the blue "Reserve GPU" button located beneath the Video conference button.

 

A prompt will then appear to gather the necessary details for your GPU request.

The initial field concerns location, which is set to "Anywhere" by default.

If you are aware of the city closest to the participants, you may manually enter it by selecting "Within distance from city".

Alternatively, if you require broader location coverage, you can select "Others...".

Once you are content with the selected location, click "Continue" to proceed to the "Per desktop" section, where you can define specific machine requirements.

In this section, specify all resources required per machine to obtain an accurate estimate of the associated resource costs.

** Accuracy is crucial here, as it ensures a more precise cost calculation and assists course managers in locating resources should availability be limited in a particular region.

 

When you are satisfied with the entered details, click Continue to move on to the GPU requirements section.

It is advisable to consult with the trainer to determine the exact needs of the course at this stage. Trainers typically have a clear understanding of the required GPU Vendor and Model for their sessions. If there is any uncertainty on either side, please leave these fields as "ANY".

Currently, we offer two primary vendors: AMD & Nvidia.

Regarding models, we provide a list from our current catalogue. If the specific requirements are unknown, please ensure this field remains set to "ANY".

 

After verifying all reservation details, click "Place reservation" to allocate the necessary funds. This action will activate the reservation, displaying its status on the course page as shown below:

 

Should new information regarding GPU requirements emerge, or if modifications to the reservation are necessary, please contact DD support to assist with editing the GPU reservation request.
