Course VPN

The Course VPN (CVPN) feature enables direct desktop-to-desktop connectivity.

It replaces the “Turn off network isolation” option. When network isolation was turned off, desktops on the same server could talk to one another, but cross-server or data centre communication was not supported.

With Course VPN, any desktop assigned to a course can communicate with others in that course, no matter which server or data centre they are on.

This feature is available solely on Ubuntu and Windows 10. For other operating systems, you can still use “Turn off network isolation”.

Here are screenshots of the VPN network interface that gets created when training workstations are set up. You can see two student workstations showing the `edge0` interface—that’s the course VPN.

Works when setting up a course with Ubuntu or Windows 10.
