DaDesktop Training: Frequently Asked Questions

1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (Because MS Excel functions are required)

  1. No, MS Office is not included inside DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). We supply only a DD virtual machine and a training room.
  2. Trainers need to set up a free trial account of MS Office for all participants.
  3. Alternatively, they can use their own MS Office accounts.

2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we've introduced a simple way to upload files from your local machine to your DD Desktop. The only minor restriction is that you can transfer just one file at a time right now. But you can easily create a zip or archive containing everything you need, and copy that over to your DaDesktop machine.
  2. If you're using cloud storage, make sure to log out of it before cloning to all participants.

3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?

  1. If you're on Chrome, navigate to chrome://settings/system and turn off the hardware acceleration option.

4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No, the Terms and Conditions at the trainer registration page make clear that trainers do not have access to the wiki.
  2. If you need to submit edits to the NobleProg wiki, simply copy and paste the content and email it to the trainer (a PDF works too).

5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?

Absolutely. Whitelist domains that match this pattern:

  1.              *.npg.io
  2.             https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

For additional inquiries, reach out to DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?

  1. First, trainers can configure the DD environment by selecting the desired RAM, CPU, and disk resources.
  2. Next, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox within DD to create several virtual machines and configure the network between them.
  3. Once setup is complete, you can clone the environment to all participants in seconds.
  4. If you need assistance, reach out to DaDesktop Support.

7. What is the server capacity?

  1. It depends on the server hardware.
  2. As an example, 512GB of RAM can be utilized as 512GB * 3 through overcommitment.
  3. Each server can have a maximum disk of 250GB, 16 CPU threads per desktop, and configurable RAM amounts.

8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?

  1. Yes, you can download recordings now by clicking the three dots on the right side of the video player.
  2. The video also contains an audio recording, provided you're using the training room's audio.

9. Which browser should I used for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera perform flawlessly.
  2. Other browsers, such as Internet Explorer, aren't fully supported.

10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?

  1. Start by checking your internet connection—DaDesktop performance depends on your local speed.
  2. Check your server location; when the coordinator creates the desktop, they will always select a server close to participants in China.
  3. Disable your VPN, or switch it to PAC mode. Also, deactivate any security software that might interfere with WebSockets, since smooth DaDesktop operation relies on them.

11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network

Accessing Remote Desktop depends on Websocket

  1. It might be your device blocking it. Look into your settings for anything that could be blocking Websocket. On some Chromebooks, for example, in the proxy settings, if "Use the same proxy for all protocols" is enabled, Websocket will fail (because it sets the "SOCK host" with a proxy). Uncheck that option and leave the "SOCKS host" blank, and that should resolve the issue.
  2. It could also be the network rather than your device. In that case, you'll need to ask your network administrator to unblock Websocket.

12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?

  1. Take a look at our GPU information page for details on GPU support.

13. Is there any potential issues or answers?

  1. In general, using DaDesktop is just like working on any standard Windows or Linux computer, but you might encounter a few minor issues with certain software in a training setup, particularly when cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?

  1. No, we don't support Mac-compatible software or Mac emulation, mainly due to licensing concerns.
